Passion flowers

I have buds! The plant wants to be outside so bad, but it has just been too cold. Still, it's got a bud big enough that it might even bloom by this weekend.

It may seem like a silly thing to get excited about, but I love this vine. Here is a picture of a flower my dau took last year:

The flowers are about 3-4 inches across and have a subtle scent that (to me) is like lemon and ginger combined. They bloom and are gone in 24 hours. I have tried everything (drying and pressing and that stuff that's like sand that draws the moisture out) to preserve them and nothing works. It doesn't matter if you put them in water or leave them on the vine, they close up after a day. So, when I get to enjoy a bloom, I'm happy.

aww, i hope you get to meet Johnny. one of the best places to scout are the swankiest hotels, and of course if it's swarmed with paparazzis.

Thanks Arlene, but I'm about done with the scouting. I was being a little facetious in this post.
I will admit I still have Johnny-on-the-brain to a certain extent because he's still in the area (I think), but I've invested about all I had in me as far as standing in crowds and being jostled for a peek.
Frankly, it looked to me like the crowds were freaking him out a little, and I don't want to be a part of that. Besides, my daughter met him, I was close enough to hear and see the exchange; sort of. That's good enough for me. It was an experience I value because I went with my dau, but I don't feel a need to be touched by Depp, and I don't understand autographs. If you can't actually talk to an interesting person about interesting things, what's the point?
If we went again it would only be taking up space that could better be filled by some little kids who would get to meet Captain Jack or Willie Wonka. It's their turn.

Beautiful Passion Flower, I'd never seen one before.

I appreciate your thoughts on needing to meet Johnny (or not) in the comments and really do agree. What's the point if you can't have a meeting of the minds so to speak? I too thought the crowds were freaking him out a little...

I like your writing style, funny!

Great day! = )

Betty,
I went to your site, and your pics look like ours! I also am vertically challenged, and we have a lot of heads and blurs.
